"What, the manager?" Dustin shook his head in disbelief. "The guy only goes after prostitutes. And while Cory totally could look like jailbait in a dress and stockings, I doubt that's who we have to worry about..."

Austin nodded, though he didn't like the Cory tangent.

"The guy we're after isn't as evil as you think. Just way overdue."

"Well ghosts can't exactly directly kill a living person right? They need a vessel. Cory's prone to possession, makes him the prime target for doing the dirty work, not necessarily being the victim. And you mentioned the security guards are possessed now. No doubt they have guns." Cal pointed out what apparently was only obvious to him.

"M-maybe C-Charles is just overreacting and we have n-nothing too serious to worry about..." Yeah sure, 'cause it's not like it was always way worse than anyone ever thought.

"No, man, ghosts can kill without a vessel. It's just a bit more rare for certain words, probably like this one."

Austin nodded at his brother's words. "They can kill. It just depends on the emotion they're feeling, the one that's keeping them tied to the living realm."

"But, we shouldn't have to worry about the manager." Dustin nodded with his brother. "Just the security guards. Guns and whatnot."

"Well that's not disconcerting or anything...jeez." Cal sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "So basically we're all screwed if a ghost wants us dead badly enough. That's a wonderful notion."

"Humans so confusing. Dead should stay dead, not try to stay alive. Not logical." Steve frowned at the cat.
"Meow."

"Ghosts need a vessel in this world. Or at least all the ones in our neighborhood do....I've asked about it before." Cory stood staring at the floor, no longer trembling so much, just shivering now and then whenever a random ghost would pass by.

(Dear lord, Cory didn't stammer or stutter. The world must be ending. *shot*)

Austin peeked out between the blinds, on high alert.

"Here they come."

Seven different suited men marched down the hall towards their hiding room, all in line, as stiff as soldiers.

He moved back into the centre of the room, whipping out his colt, switching off the safety. "Dustin, we gotta keep them safe."

"Duh." Dustin moved to the door, hand on the knob.

"All of you, follow us. On three."

Cal nodded, "Cory, stay between me and Steve alright."

"Y-yeah." Cory nodded and moved to stand behind the older teen.

Steve put the cat back into his shirt, "Time to hide again kitty. Too hard to fight a hold you at the same time."
"Meeow."
"Be good." Steve pulled out his own gun, a high tech phaser of sorts with odd crystal's built into it.

"No killing Steve."

"I know."

"Actually..." Austin moved back to the window again to look. "They're an odd sort of ghost. Can't possess a live body. They aren't strong enough to kick out the soul."

He turned back to Dustin.

"I think we can kill em."

(Still laughing. >u> *shot*)

"Ookaaay, so scratch that. You can kill 'em Steve."

The alien nodded, "Right."

Cory pulled his arms tight to himself, trying to be as small a target as he could. As if that ever helped much. He caught himself half wishing one of the hero ghosts was here to possess him. At least they could fight. He was just kinda useless really.

"Cory, when they come in, stay behind us, alright?" Austin told him gently, eyes on the door. "Ghosts seem to like you and they're probably accompanied by a more powerful spirit that'll spring for you first chance it can get." Cory probably already knew this, but it didn't hurt to reiterate the important stuff.

"Cal, do you have a weapon?" Dustin asked, eyes also trained on the door, unblinking.

"R-right..." Cory nodded, his mind contemplating what kind of ghost might try to take him over this time.

Cal nodded as well and pulled out a small laser pointer that seemed to expand and form a trigger fit to his fingers, "Yeah." Alien roommates did have their perks.

Steve narrowed his eyes at the door. "They are very close now."
The cat stayed silent.

"Yep..." Dustin murmured to no one in particular as the door handle slowly starting to move downwards.

Cory gulped and started shaking again. He felt small and useless. Maybe he should start carrying a knife or something. Wait no he tried that once...bad idea. Stupid ghosts. Why'd they have to make everything so difficult and complicated. Maybe he should just learn karate instead. Yeah maybe that could help. Was he seriously thinking about all this right now? He watched the door handle nervously as it slowly turned. Was it seriously that slow or was his brain just racing that fast?

Cal stood in front of Cory, ready for whatever the hell came through that door. They were just guys with guns. Well guys with guns possessed by ghosts, but that didn't really matter. As long as they could be stopped. They were human guns anyway. Cal had survived worse weapons than that, way worse. He took a breath to relax himself and held his gun stead, ready to shoot the moment the door opened.

All in a rush, the door was slammed open, hinges went flying, and "men" came scrambling into the room like ravage dogs, snapping their jaws and clawing at the others with their nails.

Dustin jumped in surprise before quickly recovering and sending a volley of bullets into the throng, grabbing hold of Cory's arm.

"More violent than we thought!"

Austin nodded grimly, kicking down the table for cover, picking off the vessls one by one.

Cory jumped when Dustin grabbed him, startled a little more by that than the sudden rush of men through the door.

Cal never flinched or hesitated but simply went to work eliminating the threats. He'd never really had to kill humans before though. It was weird, easy, but still kinda weird. Easy because these guys were a lot slower than all the aliens he'd had to face before, but weird since these guys had been human, living people with lives and all that crap. He wondered a moment why he didn't hesitate at shooting them down. People normally hesitated about that didn't they? Another head shot, another body fell to the floor. Maybe it was just the adrenalin. Yeah he'd just blame that for now. He could think about it more deeply later.

Steve stood behind the shorter kids, easily taking out the possessed human guards over their heads. Humans were slow compared to his race, it hardly seemed fair. What was that phrase Cal had said once? Shooting fish in a barrel? Yes, that was it. He thought it an apt metaphor for the situation.

Quickly enough, all of them vessels laid broken and bleeding on the ground, the air cold and their breath visible.

"Right..."

They hated killing. Not just humans, just killing in general. Because when you were an angel, you felt all of it. All of the pain of the victim's death, their regrets, their worries. Wasn't very pleasant and was very distracting, especially in battle.

Austin sighed and nudged at one of the deads' wrist, turning it over to reveal a brand of the reverse cross.

"Yep."

Dustin nodded, turning back to them. "Okay, this just got way bigger than before."

"Damn, that can't be good..." Cal eyed the brand and nudged the wrist of another body to reveal the same mark.

Cory stiffened. "T-this really can't be good..."

Steve tilted his head. "What? What is that mark?"
The cat finally popped it's head back out of Steve's shirt. "Meow?"

Cal sighed, "Aw jeez, explaining that to your satisfaction would take hours Steve. We'll look it up later alright? For now it just means more trouble for us."

The alien blinked, "Ah...alright."

"Right, so, some dumbass cult made a deal with a devil, right?"

Austin nodded.

"Probably a crossroads," he continued for his brother. "They're the easiest to get to and the easiest to work with."

"Then these guys, whoever they are, will be dead in about 10 years?"

Austin nodded again.

"Correct. But, we should really get to them first."

This time, Dustin nodded.

"Duh. And them?" he asked, jerking his head to the other three.

Austin shrugged.

Cal half contemplating just ditching the twins and getting the hell out of this idiotic town. Of course it probably wouldn't be good for the community to leave a group of Satanist around making deals with the devil and bringing up evil ghosts to take over the dead.
Although when did he ever care about the community.
On the other hand the added ghost activity would probably mean more shit for Cory...that kid was too helpless to not want to help.
He'd curse himself for getting into this later.
"We can help. I guess. Maybe not so much with driving out the demons or whatever the hell's gonna be in charge of all this, but we can at least shoot things."

Cory nodded, or was that a shudder? It was hard to tell. "W-we can't just leave something like this..."

"Meow!"
"I think kitty agrees."

"I like kitty." Dustin deadpanned, pulling out a worn map. "Kitty makes good decisions."

Austin shook his head before turning back to the group. "You know this is, like, the most dangerous thing you can probably do, right? Crossroad demons all report to a boss, a head honcho, and that boss is usually right below Lucifer." He bit his lip, hoping to convince them otherwise. "You'd have a better chance of survival in a horror film."

"Let them do what they want!" The older twin said firmly, glaring at the map. "Just help me out here! I've got multiple dots, all around here, and they seem pretty random. Don't make up a devil snare, or a cross, or any symbol. Not even something random from the BOC." His arms flailed at his sides helplessly. "There's not pattern."

"Then maybe they're all one group? Just dispersed?" Austin offered.

"Yeah, I guess..."

Steve nodded, "Kitty makes good plans."

Cory glanced at the map, and connected the dots all at once. "H-hey! T-that's...that's f-from the weird Hades gang...but why...why would they be here?"

"Wait what?" Cal looked over at the dots on the map. "Why would they be dealing with demons? Wait no...stupid question, they have a new religion practically every week. But why here?"

"Hades gang?" Dustin made a face of confusion. "Why haven't we heard of that one?"

"New religious practice every week, and we haven't been able to update in a couple of days." Austin explained, eyes trained on the map. "Made their own symbol, the idiots. They're just asking for ways to piss of the demons."

Dustin scowled. "Dude, look. Look where one of their meeting places is." he pointed to a dot on the map, located right above a sewer marked in red.

Austin slumped.

"Mastema's tomb. Lovely."

He bit back a wail of frustration, hiding his face in his hands. "Stupid humans!"

"These guys have gone through so many freaking religions and belief systems it's insane. They tend to focus on the more violent ones." Cal pointed out, "And they don't really have a symbol all their own, it's just a combination."

"Ma-Mastema?" Cory squeaked out as he started trembling again.

"Huh?" Cal was at a loss here. "Mastema?"

Steve listened quietly, as did the cat.

(Damn it now I have to do research. XP Stupid Cory. Why'd you have to go and be all edumacated about supernatural stuff? *shot*)

"Mastema," Austin began. "Is one of the many fallen angels. The name is directly translated to "hostility" and lemme tell ya, he is one evil son of a bitch."

"And eh doesn't like humans much, either." Dustin continued stepping up to get a better view of the map. "So any sort of human cult thinking they're cool enough to use him will piss him off. He'd probably play along for a bit before turning on them."

"Plus, the guy is Lucifer's bitch. He's got direct contact with the big guy and, thus, a larger hold over the demons down under."

"Aaaaand., he likes freaks."

Austin's eyes cut to Cory when he said that.

"... Yeah."

Cory fidgeted nervously, "H-he was supposed to be in charge of tempting men and testing their faith. S-some believe he was equated with S-Satan himself."

"Woah...so this just got like...really serious...great." Cal sighed. "And that damned gang leader Matt's probably still interested in Cory too...this'll be annoying."

Cory just nodded.

Steve tilted his head. "Hm."
"Meow."

"Well, you know, we could try being optimistic for once, maybe?" Austin offered, unsure of where he was going with this. "I mean, just maybe, it's just a coincidence?" He shrugged. "Possibly?"

"Probably not." Dustin deadpanned, eyes flat. "We don't get that kinda of luck anymore, and you know it."

"But maybe they do?"

He tried not to sound too hopeful.
