Dustin regarded Steve with no expression for a moment before bluntly stating "Nope."

Austin nodded smiled in that understanding way a mother would. "Doesn't seem like the greatest guy. He seems to care about you or..." His upper lip twitched. "Or something. Do you know why?"

He had to be careful or else Cal would probably rip his head off. And he really didn't want anyone to be condemned today.

Cal eyed the two new comers suspiciously. Not human? What the hell was that all about? They looked human enough, and Cory seemed to be trusting them for some reason...

Steve proceeded to pet the cat in his shirt as it started to purr again.

Cory twitched a little, "Y-yeah you could say that...he's a bit o-overprotective sometimes..." The boy sat twiddling his fingers, not looking up. "I...I see ghosts...I-I guess somehow that's made me ah...e-easier to possess, kind of..."

Dustin cringed. "Yikes! Kid, that sucks. I'm surprised you haven't off yourself, ya know? Oof!"

Dustin gasped as Austin's elbow collided with his stomach, the other scolding him mentally.

You can't just say that to a kid! You're so insensitive sometimes

Dustin scowled, carrying on the mental conversation Hey, it's not my fault he can see shit! Anyways, that was a strong ghost, right? We have to take care of it. It's too much of a threat to these humans.

The younger scoffed and rolled his eyes, crossing his arms defensively. I know that. But you acting like a dick won't get us anywhere!

OH, really?

Austin scowled. Really.

...

They had forgotten they had an audience.

Cal just stared at the two, kind of surprised they acted weirder than he did. "I'm just gonna guess this is part of the 'not human' thing and not ask..."

Cory glanced between the two, a little more nervous now, unsure if he should respond to the statement or not at this point. "Ah...well I...I guess I'm j-just more afraid...of d-dying because of it really..." He glanced around the room as he spoke, marking all possible exits and the fastest routs to each of them. His nervousness grew the more he looked around and noticed just how many people where in the casino.

The cat had poked it's head out of the top of Steve's shirt as he continued to pet it.

Austin cleared his throat and tugged at the em of his shirt in embarrassment. "Sorry. And that's completely understandable." He addressed Cory's nervousness with another calm smile. Hooray for the self control of an Angel. Seriously.

"But do you know if Charlie wants anything from you? Or did you know him?" Ghosts usually didn't just fly up to people willy-nilly. They had a connection with their victim, whether it was before or after death.

"Hell, how did this guy even die?" Dustin mused aloud. "I mean, ya gotta die first. And it's gotta be a pretty odd death for him to be able to follow this kid around, right?" He paused and lowered his voice for no real reason besides dread. "What if it isn't even a ghost?"

"We'd know if it was a demon." the younger reassured him, thought not completely checking that possibility off the list either. They'd seen weirder, after all.

Cory continued to twiddle his fingers and went back to studying the carpet again. "W-well...I didn't know him...or at least I d-don't think I did...I don't really know much about him other than he..." Cory swallowed. "H-he likes to...do things...I-I don't really know why he picked me over anybody else...I t-tend to attract ghosts...y-you may not have noticed but the g-ghosts here in the casino have kinda congregated in this area already..." Cory eyed several shadows that had slowly crept their way closer to the group. A number of other ghosts flew around above. "I-I think...the k-kind of see me as a way to reconnect with the living world..."

Austin nodded. The hordes of ghosts had been one of the main reason that he and his twin and come here in the first place. it was rare to see so many in one place, especially since most hadn't even died here. That usually meant things were just wacky or that something more sinister was at work. But they were optimists. They settled with too much crack before death. Wack jobs.

"Alright. Things?" Tread lightly, now. "What kinds of things?" You already have an idea... "You don't have to tell us, it'd just be a bit more helpful if we knew." Hah, helpful. There wasn't any time to start a therapy session, Austin. But he couldn't help it. The cracking voice, the stammer, the avoidance of eye contact, it all reminded him of Devan. Or, at least, what Devan used to be. Now the guy spent most of his time drinking, having sex, and collecting souls. Why must the good die young.

Dustin looked around cautiously, feeling slightly nervous over how... bold the ghosts were getting. They were closing in on the small group, slowly, but surely. They'd have to move soon. Sometimes ghosts could mess with electrical frequencies. He wasn't sure what powered the alien's cloaking device but he didn't want to take a chance of having it short out in this crowd. They'd might as well ask for a riot.

We need to move and soon.

Austin acknowledged this with a twitch of his head, still focused on the boy.

Cory bit at his lower lip and keep his eyes on the ground.

And that's where Cal got annoyed. "Like you need to ask. Are you a freaking idiot? You're completely strangers, why the hell should he be telling you any of this anyway?"

"I-it's okay Cal, they're just...trying to help." Cory gave Cal a pleading look to stay calm.

The older teen sighed and glared at Austin, "Just drop it will ya. His life's shit as it is he doesn't need you bringing up things that should've stayed dead a long time ago. And besides, I think security's gotten suspicious of four kids hanging around..." He nodded across the room where several large men in black suits had entered the casino floor, pointing and talking amongst themselves. They started to move out towards the group. "As if we didn't have enough trouble."

"Ah..." Steve pushed the cat back into his shirt. "Time to hide again kitty."
"Meow!" The cat protested.

Dustin huffed in frustration. "Freakin' humans. So paranoid..."

"He's right, we should go." Austin sent a glance at his brother before melding into the crowd like vapor, blending in perfectly, then disappearing all together.

Dustin stared at the empty spot where he used to be before letting out an annoyed cry of "I hate it when you do that!". He then turned to the group and clasped his hands together. "Right. We're going to get lost if we don't stick together." he grabbed Cal's hand, then Cory's. "Follow me, Steve!"

And then ran headfirst into the crowd, senses heightening to a level of oversensitivity that made his ears ring and mouth taste bitter. Still, could'a been worse.

He dragged the slightly struggling humans behind him, eyes alert on the mirrors that were hung in the corners of he corners, watching the security men reach where they one were before looking through the throng, flabbergasted.

"Bitchin'." Dustin smirked before giving one last tug and sending the rest into a previously locked business room with tinted windows. He swiftly closed the door behind him, locked it, then propped a hair against it just to be safe.

"Austin'll be here soon, we just need to lie low for a bit."

...

Then again, these people probably wouldn't be very happy with him taking charge. Especially Cal.

(LOL. Long information packed post is long and has much information~ Kind of. *shot* )

"Fucking hell, you could warn us next time! Jeez." Cal stretched his arm, massaging the shoulder. "Feels like you nearly took my arm off." He was not happy with anything about this situation. If they got caught him and Cory would probably get expelled or something, and God only knows what kind of secret government agency those two twins worked for. There was no way either of them was younger than Cal the way they acted, but they still looked like kids! Jeez this was crazy. Although they had been through worse... Aliens and ghosts kinda lead to extreme adventures and all that. He sighed and sat on the edge of a table near the center of the room. And Steve's still got that poor cat in his shirt...and he calls me the kid. Pssh.

Cory leaned against a wall, and also rubbed his arm a bit, trying not to just let himself collapse on the floor. Two possessions within the past hour and one had been Charlie. Never a fun day whenever he was involved.
Cory was a bit relieved that they had gotten away from all the crowds. That many people always freaked him out. Too many things going on at once, too many sounds coming from too many directions. It was down right unsettling, but then again he should be used to it. Most of the ghosts that hung around his hometown enjoyed making odd noises to freak him out. Or maybe that explained why he didn't like all the noise in crowds...didn't matter either way really.

He looked up to see Cal still stretching his arm, obviously miffed about the whole situation, and Steve had now taken the cat completely out of his shirt and was cradling it with one arm while scratching under it's chin with the other. He'd known the two for less than a year and already they were his best friends. His only friends really. He figured he was luck to have any.
He looked down at the floor. This is a mess...I suppose we've been in worse though. But it's usually just us against somebody else...we've never had anyone trying to help us before. It's odd. He looked up to study Dustin a bit. He didn't even know his name. But Charlie had been on edge because of him and his brother, he guessed they were brothers, they looked too much alike not to be. Cory figured it was kind of a good sign if Charlie was on edge about something. He remembered snatched of the conversation Charlie had before with the other guy. Ghost hunters...or something like it...maybe...maybe they can help... Cory resigned himself to looking at the floor again, trying to wrap his brain around everything that had happened so far.

Steve grinned as the cat purred louder the more he rubbed and scratched it. "You are a nice kitty aren't you?"
"Meow. Purrrrrrrr~"

Dustin ran a hand over his face, not quite sure what to do at this point. Usually, the twins worked together. With everything. Down to the last second of the day. And you couldn't really blame them, they;d had separation issues ever since he had died.

Damn, that had hurt. You never know what it's like to die until your brother's girlfriend pops one in ya. Seriously, talk about drama! And the aftermath hadn't been very pleasant. Watching helplessly up with the other angels as Austin lay comatose, out appearance like a corpse, but inside, his thoughts were a train-wreck of agony. The other had actually been pretty scared that he'd go ghost when he died because there was so much he thought about that had to do with living. Too much would've been holding him back. He was still thanking God to this day that that hadn't been the case.

"Austin, where are you..." he muttered under his breath, starting to feel a bit worried. Once again, separation issues. Austin wouldn't be late like this if he could've helped it. All he was supposed to do was sabotage a couple of cameras, nothing else. And eh could've done that from any old outlet in a mere matter of seconds so where the hell was he?! "Shit." he cursed before wiping at his cheek and turning to the others. Cal looked pissed. Couldn't blame him. Probably thought they were some runaways criminals or some shit like that. Maybe government officials. He chuckled a bit to himself at that one. They were too short to look good in tuxes.

"Okay, while we're waiting, riddle me this." He clasped his hands together and pointed to Steve, who was still fondling the cat. "What's he doing here and why is he enamored with that thing. Shouldn't you guys all be in school? Sans Steve, of course, but it's midmorning. And I'm pretty sure classes are ongoing until, like, three." He paused. "Unless that's changed over the past century. If so, please, kindly inform me. I'm a bit rusty on civilian life."

Cal frowned a bit, but resigned himself to having to explain some things since the guy could apparently see through Steve's disguise. "He crash landed a couple years back. Been stuck here ever since." No need to go into too much detail. Didn't want to freak the guy out with certain reasons for Steve being stuck here. No. That would not go well.

Steve pouted, "Can't find good parts, so I have to make them. Takes a long time to make the right elements with such limited technology."

"Right." Cal nodded, "And as for the cat...well we really have no idea why he likes 'em so much. He likes dogs too, but they don't usually take kindly to him so he sticks with cats now."

Steve nodded. "Canines don't like me...felines are friendly though."

Cory looked up at the door as a dark shape reached through it. "We had a field trip today." He stepped away from the wall in time to avoid another ghost seeping in.

"Weird ass idea for a field trip if you ask me, but whatever." Cal sighed. "Alright your turn. Who the hell are you and what are you doing here? And if you're not human what the hell are you? I thought we would stand out, heh, but you guys look younger than me and you have guns. Mind explaining that?"

Dustin pursed his lips.

"Well... I'm Dustin Kruse. The guy back there is my twin, if you haven't already guessed, Austin. We hunt ghosts, demons, freaks, monsters, gods, myths, but usually ghosts. And we died about a century ago."

Yep, that sounded good.

"No, no, no!" Dustin said quickly. "Well... Yeah, we're dead, but we're not zombies. We're... something else..."

"Dusty!"

Austin dissolved into focus, wings quickly fading before they could do any damage.

"The security guards are possessed!"

"Wait, what? Answer the question damn it!" Cal frowned.

"The security guards? B-but that's not..." Cory jumped and squeaked a little as something cold brushed the back of his neck. "T-this can't be g-good..."

Steve looked up at Austin's appearance, the cat still cradled in his arms.

'We're angels!" Dustin burst out distractedly, instead moving to the window and poking down a blind-strand, looking around the desolate hallway. Which wasn't right. Because this was a casino. And when they had first come down this hallway, they had passed at least three drunkards and a couple making out. Now, no one was anywhere in sight.

Shiiiiit.

"Austin, we have to get them out of here. Like, now!"

The younger nodded, moving quickly to Cory's side.

Cal stood a bit shocked by the answer, but quickly got over. "Dude..."

"W-w-wait, w-what? A-angels?" Cory started to fiddle with his fingers again trying to sort out all the thoughts rushing through his head.

Steve blinked, and titled his head, "I do not know that word...What are angels?"
"Meow?"

"Uhm, yeah...." Austin replied gently. "Angels. We died and became angels because we were intended to Mediums. But... something happened and..." He looked way, not liking to think about it. "Something happened and we became angels."

"Angels are..." Dustin frowned. "Uh..."

"Angel. A spiritual being believed to act as an attendant, agent, or messenger of God, conventionally represented in human form with wings and a long robe. An attendant spirit, especially a benevolent one. A guardian spirit or guiding influence."

Dustin stared at his brother in blank surprise at the definitions.

"... I wondered one day."

The alien gave a confused expression. "Aaaaah, still so many words Steve doesn't understand...human ideas are so confusing. Too illogical."

Cory stared at the two, "Y-you're really...angels...? And...Mediums...no wonder Charles was on edge..."
A familiar deep voice chuckled and Cory stiffened his eyes going wide with fear.
"Oh this truly is an honor!" A dark shape, vaguely resembling a human formed behind Cory. "Angels. And Mediums! You two must truly be special." Charles chuckled again.

Cal watched Cory, unable to hear the ghost, but from Cory's reaction he knew he was there. "..."

Austin jumped slightly at the sound of the voice before whipping around to look urgently at his brother.

"Dustin, he..."

"I hear ya." he replied grimly, pulling out his own weapon. "Salt probably won't do shit in this situation."

"Then what do we do? We don't know the details so we can't send him on..."

Dustin paused. And thought a moment. Then looked to Cory. "This kids special to him. So, logically, we keep the kid away from the freak and bide our time. I'm sure Dev will show up soon."

Charles laughed. "I'm not leaving so easily, but I'm not suicidal. So to speak." The shape grinned. "I won't be causing any trouble while you two are here, so long as you keep him alive."
Cory stood, trembling. This really wasn't a good day.
The ghost pat the kid on the head and chuckled as he flinched. "Be a good boy and sty alive for me." He gave one last grin to the angels and vanished.

'Right..." Austin breathed. "Keep Cory alive..."

"... Wait, doesn't that also mean that we have something dangerous here to have to protect him from?"

Austin frowned.

"It's probably just whatever you guys are here for in the first place. Charles has a tendency to over react when he's not in control." Cal pointed out.
Cory just nodded, still trembling.

Steve merely watched the humans and angels, still rubbing the cat in his arms.
